The Food Mill is your natural foods community marketplace serving Oakland and the entire Bay Area for 78 years. As a Natural foods store we reflect a nice family and community feel. We are old fashioned and that’s just the way we like it, not to be compared with larger and fancier stores. Our ever growing bulk foods section is a delight for the avid cook or baker. Our all organic produce section is a work in progress always looking for your suggestions of what you may like to see. We have nutritional consultants on hand 7 days a week to answer all of your questions about high blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, to the best of our ability. In our bakery we have our ever popular cookie bars that we have been baking in house for well over 50 years, and yes we have reintroduced our whole grain breads and cinnamon rolls. Again we are not a mega discount store, just a small family owned shop that will hopefully give you a good feeling and excellent service when you visit us.

We are a family-owned and community-oriented business located on the historic site of Tepper’s Beer Garden in Oakland’s Dimond neighborhood and proudly carry on the Dimond tradition of offering fine beers at this location. Having owned this location since March 1987, we have been active members in the community serving on both the Dimond Improvement Association (DIA) and Dimond Business & Professional Association (DB&PA) boards.  In 2007 we were recognized by the Oakland Merchant and Leadership Forum (OMLF) for excellent public service. Additionally we have sponsored free Thanksgiving Dinners for the Community in our parking lot in and have supported the DIA’s Dimond Picnic and Oaktoberfest Events.

We are open every day from 8am-2pm so feel free to stop in and say hello.
